Emily Kewageshig is a 21-year-old Ojibwe Woodland Artist. She was born and raised in Saugeen First Nation #29, a small reserve located along the shores of Lake Huron in Ontario, Canada. From a young age she was always creating art and found inspiration in her Anishinaabe culture and the natural environment she grew up in. Her work focuses on the relationships between people, animals, and is a connection back to the land.
Emily graduated from Sheridan College in 2017 receiving a Diploma with Honours in Visual and Creative Arts. She was also the recipient of both "Best in Show" and "Student to Student" awards at the Visual and Creative Arts final graduate exhibition. She is currently situated in Toronto, ON completing her BFA in the Indigenous Visual Culture Program.
